about

Oneiric tableaus from Zebularin.

You are immersed in a series of performances - part audience, part subject. Presented with familiar sounds evoking understandable scenes that quickly break down as you find yourself within the set as the walls dissolve. Refrains and genres blur into flows of new sound and back again as you move from zone to zone, never quite sure of your place in this non-linear narrative - perhaps you have been drugged,? Perhaps this is a hallucination? Maybe you are unconscious and dreaming in a hidden laboratory? Jazz shifts into chamber music shifts into film noir through electronics and processed sound before you awaken with a start - was that last scene where you are now?

Less soundscapes and more of a series of sound scenes, Zebularin presents a non-linear journey through a series of disorienting zones. A set of warping sound stages that present conventional images - a cafe, a bar, a band, but that blur and shimmer as they disappear into electronics, processed sound, and unconventional instrumentation. Like the kind of half-formed memories that appear within a dream, these tracks have a lingering hold that is very difficult to describe.
