Fizzing with stray magnetic energy, howling void crackles into being and rapidly builds and saturates with signal. Like the groaning and creaking of some lost satellite, still picking up broadcasts from interstellar phenomena; the two tracks that make up Howling Void seem to act as receivers for accumulated errant signal. Drawn out guitar drones slide beneath static and interference, building turbine-like texture and momentum as the noise dances above.
Like Butler’s previous release, the tracks build more to a point of saturation, than assault, though in this case, the tone is much eerier. Howling acts as the powering up and motion of our lost spacecraft, swelling and then stabilising before ebbing back into crackling chatter; whilst Void builds until those unknown signals and interferences take over completely, a shrieking tone indicates some kind of alarm as the drones of the craft are lost to the void.
