Heat Death Of The Sun returns with House Of The Yellow Lotus.
A very different beast to 2018's Erosion Of Culture, here the oppressive density of that release is traded for something much freer. Still grounded in electronic manipulation, House Of The Yellow Lotus uses this to conjure a much airier soundscape, and combines this with the talents of Mark Cooper (Ten Sticks) on drums. Sounds that hover somewhere between sampled flute and synthesised tones set the backdrop for free form percussion, skittering it's way along the electronic currents as they drift. Rapid looped vocal samples and rhythmic pulses inform drum beats and vice versa – never quite converging, but dancing around each other as the track unfolds.
Heat Death Of The Sun is the project of Newcastle based Eugene Davies, also of Winter Isle (Guitar, violin, and synth). Utilising a mixture of effected samples, ephemera and syntheses, Davies explores electronic soundscapes ranging from bleak industrial to expansive ambient, alongside a number of collaborative live performances.
