Coalescing from rumbling noise, as if a recorder was produced on a windy hilltop to record some paranormal phenomena, Dusk Summon calls forth two tracks of magic steeped drone. Drenched in the kind of distortion that softens rather than grates, shifting guitar tones drift across the album, emanating energy and held aloft by clattering, effected percussion that is at some times discernible and others buried and warped.
Joined by wordless chants and quietly pummelling drums towards its close, Dusk Summon evokes an unnerving but ultimately healing ritual - some lost folk magic that allows you to briefly cross the veil into another realm. An attempt at βDawn Metalβ, Carnivorous Plants marries a mutual love of noise and feedback as an overwhelming cathartic experience with metal and doom music, carrying you through slow motion night time hallucinations before you wake at dawn, alone in the wilderness.
